Site Layout and Access
Lidl’s proposed development involves the construction of a new single-storey building that will provide 2,125m2 gross internal floorspace with a net sales area of 1,325m2. The proposed development will provide 129 free car parking bays, including Disabled and Parent & Child spaces that will be sited at the front of the store.
The site is well placed to encourage access by sustainable modes of transport, being within close proximity of houses to the north, east, west and south, as well as being just off the A33, one of the main radial routes into and out of the city. Customer cycle parking will also be provided to encourage shoppers to visit the store by bicycle.
Vehicle access to the site will be via the existing access off Banister Road. The existing second access/egress on Hulse Road will be permanently closed off.
The store will also be accessible by public transport via the bus stops located just around the corner on The Avenue, which are served by bus services running both north and south into the city centre.
The store’s car parking spaces are arranged in a manner so that it will be safe and easy for customers to manoeuvre around the car park, with the disabled and parent and child parking located close to the store entrance.
